This week was among the most anticipated ones in EEU Tour 3. After watching a couple of big matches, it was time for the “El-Classico” between Team Spirit and Virtus.Pro (Outsiders). What’s even more impressive is that Outsiders also had to go up against the leaders in Division I – BB Team.
Many people keep an eye on Eastern Europe because it is one of the most unpredictable regions in Dota 2. So, let’s review some of the things you missed this week. Don’t forget that there is one more week until the end of Tour 3, so the Major is just a few weeks away.
Division I
Team Spirit vs Outsiders
Everyone expected to see the match between two of the best teams in Eastern Europe. The International 10 champions were yet to lose their first series, whereas VP (Outsiders) had already lost one match.
Despite the fact that most of us expected Team Spirit to win, the Outsiders played extremely well in both games and deserved the victory.
Game 1
Both teams used their comfortable heroes in game one but had different tactics. Team Spirit relied on big ultimates like Black Hole and Winter’s Curse, which is why they also picked Rubick. On the other hand, VP focused on some of the most dominating heroes in the meta, such as Tiny.
Both teams were even in terms of net worth and killed until the 15th minute. However, a big team fight near the mid lane turned things around and allowed VP to secure tons of kills and the Aegis.
Following this, the team slowly but steadily gained a massive advantage. The only reason why Outsiders couldn’t win earlier is because of Spirit’s big ultimates, which had the potential to turn things around.
Game 2
Since TI 10 champion’s tactic did not work, the team changed it for game two and decided to give Illya “Yatoro” Mulyarchuk his favorite Juggernaut. The CIS superstar played extremely well, but even this was not enough to win because Outsiders were more motivated.
Similar to game one, VP needed just one team fight win and an Aegis to secure themselves a comfortable lead in the game. The battle occurred near the 20th-minute mark and did not end well for Yatoro and the rest.
After losing the Aegis, VP’s Razor came to an end, and he also finished his BKB and became unkillable in the next 10+ minutes. As expected, Roman “RAMZES666” Kushnarev and the rest used this to their full advantage and won the match.
This was a significant victory for the team because now they have the same stats as BB Team, Na’Vi and Team Spirit. Sadly, only three teams will advance to the PGL Arlington Major 2022, so we will have to wait for the next round to see which sections will go there.
Na’Vi vs Rune Eaters
Although everyone expected TS, VP, and BB Team to dominate in Eastern Europe, it seems like Natus Vincere is the region’s new powerhouse. The team won every series except one, and it will most likely become one of the teams that will represent Eastern Europe in the Major.
Following Na’Vi’s dominant results recently, we expected the team to have no problems against Rune Eaters. The latter only has one win so far, but it won the first match between the two. This made the series a lot more interesting to watch.
Despite the fact that Na’Vi had Zeus, Rune Eaters countered them with Anti-Mage, a hero that many people forgot. His team ensured he got enough farm, so it wasn’t surprising that the hero won the match.
Game 2
After Na’Vi’s mistake, the team changed tactics and picked Gyro and IO for the second game. Although the two heroes are not that popular in the current meta, they were enough to defeat RE’s draft. Darhan “hAze” Madihan and the rest had a pretty good pick, but they were unable to use Puck and TB properly. As a result, the team lost the second map.
Game 3
The last game in the series was the most exciting one because both teams had equal chances of winning. In fact, Rune Eaters had an explosive start and kept their lead for the first 29 minutes of the game.
Everything was going well for RE, but the team failed to take Roshan from the hands of Na’Vi. Following the fight near the Pit, Vladislav “laise” Lais and the rest gained a lead and used it to win the game.
Division II
HellRaisers vs HYDRA
Everyone knows that HellRaisers was one of the top-tier clubs in Eastern Europe a couple of years ago. It was home to players like Roman “Resolut1ion” Fominok and several other top-tier Dota 2 starts. However, numerous mistakes from the team placed it in Division II.
Luckily, it seems like Matvey “MieRo” Vasyunin and the rest will join Division I once again because the team won four matches in a row. Even more interesting is that HR defeated Nemiga, a team that hadn’t lost a single game before that.
Having the momentum on their side, MieRo and the rest also defeated HYDRA during Week 4 of the DPC in Eastern Europe.
Game 1
Most of us expected this to be a three-game thriller that would last for more than 2 hours. However, HR rolled out their Alchemist pick and used the hero to his full potential. Sure, there were some problems in the early game, but in the end, Jugg and Alchemist became way too strong for their opponents.
Game 2
After winning the series’ first game, HellRaisers changed their strategy and decided to pick Sniper. Although this is a controversial hero in the professional Dota 2 scene, the CIS team knows how to utilize him, and they’ve proven it yet again.
Even though HYDRA had a very tank draft with DK and Bristle, these heroes had no chances against Enigma and Sniper. A couple of crucial mistakes gave HR and the lead, and they didn’t let go.
After 26 minutes of play, the team finally delivered its knock-out punch and won the match.w
