Valorant Patch 5.10 Notes reveal balance changes to Cypher, Fade and Harbor while introducing Real-Time Disruptive Text Detection with minor UI updates.
Valorant Patch 5.10 Notes Agent Changes
Patch 5.10 is meant to be a blessing for Cypher mains and Riot Games has deployed a series of buffs to Cypher’s kit. These buffs will increase the agent’s pick rate across all matches and lower Chamber’s pick-rate dominance as a Sentinel. Valorant’s developer team feels that Cypher’s Trapwire setups have become too predictable and easy to counter and that his Ultimate has felt lacking both in restrictions required to pull it off and the reward for doing so.
With an increase in the maximum trapwire distance from 1000 to 1500, the Valorant team hopes to “open up a lot of new potential setups for Cypher” and allow him to mix up his play patterns in a way that forces his enemies to slow down. The trapwire buff will also cause enemies to move carefully through the map to avoid being caught.
Removing the time restriction on enemy corpses should make his Ultimate more accessible than it has been in the past and allow for Cypher to feel more agency when he initiates Neural Theft, while adding a second ping should create a clearer period of time where Cypher is pulling the strings, taking in the information on the enemies initial location and setting up strategic moves based on the pressure of the second. Following the nerfs to Chambers kit one patch ago, these changes are meant help Cypher reclaim a “compelling spot amongst his peers.”
Trapwire
Maximum Trapwire length increased from 1000 to 1500.
Neural Theft
Now reveals enemies two times. There is a four-second delay between the reveals.
Time restriction to cast on enemy corpses has been removed.
Maximum cast distance increased 1200 to 1800.
Quality of Life
Yellow silhouette used for Cypher’s reveal on Spycam and Neural Theft has been updated.
Yellow silhouette now disappears if the revealed enemy becomes visible to you to help reduce confusion of seeing two representations of the enemy in different places.
Yellow silhouette will now start dimmer and fade faster to make it more distinguishable from an actual enemy.
Cypher’s placed utility can no longer be destroyed by allies’ AOE damage.
Fade
After testing nerfs for Fade for a considerable amount of time on PBE, Riot Games have finally deployed the balance changes to her information-gathering ability on live servers. “Fade’s Prowlers have been difficult-to-play against on the enemy side.” To counter this, Riot’s Valorant team are introducing changes to her Prowler ability. They have been a versatile ability we’re looking to sharpen with these changes.
These specific duration changes are meant to encourage Fade to be “more deliberate” in the areas that she chooses to sweep, while the other tweaks to the ability are meant to help enemies on the counterplay side of things.
Although this shouldn’t put players off from using her Prowler as it is still an effective ability to gather intel for their team. However, it is now a little easier to destroy the prowler, as a much-larger hitbox has been deployed for the same.
Prowlers
Duration reduced from .3 seconds to .5 seconds. (Time the prowler is alive without a trail).
Delay on bite after reaching target increased from .4 seconds to .6 seconds.
Hitbox improvements.
Nearsight duration on hit reduced from 3.5 to 2.75 seconds.
Prowlers now fizzle out and no longer debuff instead of debuffing its target if they teleported away before it finished its animation.
Nightfall
Since the Nightfall (Fade’s Ultimate) offers a higher ‘baseline’ value compared to its price, Riot’s Valorant team is increasing it’s cost. Fade’s Ultimate offers more value than its current cost while compared to other ultimates in the game.
Cost increased from 7 to 8.
Harbor
Along with changes to Cypher and Fade Riot’s Valorant team has deployed a slight buff to Harbor’s Cascade to encourage players to use the Indian agent’s abilities more generously and not feel ‘too constrained.
Harbor abilities all make a healthy round impact, but we saw some players new to Harbor not using their abilities enough and feeling too constrained. By increasing the charges to Cascade, the developer team hopes to make it easier for players to “hit the ground running with the agent and also for skilled players to achieve more flexibility when controlling the map.
Cascade
Number of purchasable charges increased from 1 to 2.
Valorant Patch 5.10 Notes Gameplay Updates
Real-Time Text Evaluation
In an effort to combat in-game toxicity, Riot’s developer team has been working hard behind the scenes to implement new feature that intends to make matches more “safer’ and free of toxicity. With the implementation of more immediate text evaluation, the developer team hopes to detect and reduce “disruptive situations”while players are still in game.
The main motive behind the creation of this feature is help players feel safer to engage in VALORANT. In addition to our existing interventions, we are launching a new feature to begin muting players in chat who send disruptive text messages in game. Interventions for disruptive text will now be applied sooner rather than later as we continue updating our systems to evaluate more types of text communication.
Menus Update: Having heard the pain caused by removing one-click access to most of our menus, the UI team has returned that functionality in the form of icon buttons in the universal navigation at the top of the screen. Players would now be able to jump from Home, Battlepass, Agents, Career, Collection, and Store with one click from anywhere.
Hovering over each icon will open up tooltips to help players recognize the intended purpose of each icon. Players should note that this UI change isn’t final and will be adjusted upon feedback from Twitter, feedback to the in-game UI has been divisive so far
