By Brian Webber: Jermell Charlo quickly responded to Tim Tszyu’s recent remarks, predicting a “spectacular knockout” of the Australian native in their fight on January 28th.
The undisputed champion Charlo (35-1-1, 19 KOs) plans on making the unbeaten WBO mandatory Tszyu (21-0, 15 KOs) pay when they get inside the ring in January, knocking him out.
Tszyu has gotten kind of bold lately, beating these three fighters:
- Terrell Gausha
- Takeshi Inoue
- Steve Spark
- Dennis Hogan
“I’m here to shock the world spectacularly, and I’ve got all the tools to do that, I do,” said Tszyu last Sunday while leaving the airport in Australia to fly over to the United States to start his training for the fight against Charlo. “It’s kill or be killed right now.”
Tszyu, 28, is going to need to put on a better performance against Jermell than he did against Gausha because he didn’t look good in their fight last March in Minneapolis.
Gausha surprisingly dropped Tim in the first round and was beating him to the punch in the first half of the contest.
Tszyu rallied in the second half to win a narrow 12-round unanimous decision by the scores of 114-113, 116-111, and 115-112.
“I should be giving you one of the most spectacular knockouts,” said Jermell Charlo on social media about his title defense coming up against Tim Tszyu on January 28th.
“That mother f***er has been running around, talking like he’s bigger & better because y’all know what my nickname is, right? I got a pair of shoes around here. It’s always on my shoes.
“I’m going to let you know how I move. Real prestigious, and I ain’t never tested positive for no drugs. I ain’t on no illegal s**t. I’ve never had no problems.
“You ain’t seen me get dropped and all that other s**t and make myself look foolish because y’all want to take s**t about me. What happens when you lose?
“What happens when you go all the way to the top, and there aren’t any more levels? You got to find a way to come down. How do you come down? Mistakes in life, or you come down, or you come down the right way.
“We learn even when we win. I don’t get online because I don’t have time to show you everything, baby. Too much information for you,” said Charlo.
