Joe Joyce Likes His Chances Against Tyson Fury, Joshua & Usyk

By Robert Segal: Joe Joyce says he was able to land his shots against Tyson Fury in sparring with him. As such, Joyce (15-0, 14 KOs) believes that in a real fight, he’d make contact with Fury (32-0-1, 23 KOs) and have a good chance of beating him.

Joyce says he wants Fury, Oleksandr Usyk and Anthony Joshua at this point. He beat former WBO heavyweight champion Joseph Parker by an eleventh round knockout last Saturday night to win the interim WBO title in Manchester, England.

Joyce’s victory made him the mandatory for WBO champion Usyk, and he’ believes he’ll be getting a title shot next year. Usyk and Fury will be fighting in February or March, and the winner will need to defend against Joyce or vacate the WBO title.

It’ll be up to the Fury vs. Usyk winner to decide whether they want to face Joyce. It’s possible that if they fight a rematch, they could pay Joyce a step aside unless the World Boxing Organization allows them to swerve Joe without needing to pay him.

“I’ve hit him in sparring, so I think I’ll hit him in the fight,” said Joe Joyce to iFL TV about Tyson Fury. “Yeah, I think I have a good chance. I think I’m ready, and I think it would be a great fight,” said Joyce when asked if he thinks he could beat Fury.

“He’s a great fighter, a great champion, but I’m coming for him.

He gets knocked out, he gets bashed up,” said Joyce about Anthony Joshua. “His last performances haven’t impressed me. His second fight against Usyk was better. That would be an interesting fight to get some revenge.

“I knocked him out. I punched him up and get him out of there,” said Joyce when asked to compare his performance against Joseph Parker to Joshua’s.

“Yeah, because when I fought him, I had under ten years of fighting experience of southpaw experience,” said Joyce when asked if he thinks he could beat Oleksandr Usyk. “If I fight him in the pros, it’ll be over 12 rounds with smaller gloves. I’ll have more preparation just for him. I’ll be throwing more punches and making it harder for him.

“I’ve fought him before, so I know what to expect. I’ll be in a good place to stop him or at least beat him,” said Joyce.
