By Vince Dwriter: On Saturday, November 12, super lightweight contender Montana Love will be the headliner in his hometown of Cleveland, Ohio, as he will square off against Stevie Spark (15-2, 14 KOs) at the Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse, live on DAZN.

With names such as Josh Taylor, Regis Prograis, Gary Antuanne Russell, and Teofimo Lopez, the 140-pound weight class has a surplus of talent. Love is a confident boxer who is looking at his upcoming bout as an opportunity to showcase his skills and elevate his position in the division.

Montana Love looked very impressive when he stepped inside the ring to face Carlos Diaz in December 2021. At the time, Diaz came into the fight with 29 wins and only one loss. Love started the bout by working off of his jab, shooting the left hand, and making an immediate investment to the body. He looked real sharp in the second round when he knocked Diaz down courtesy of a counter left hand to the head.

Diaz was able to get up, but he would go down two additional times in the same round. He made it out of the second round, but at the beginning of the third, Montana Love landed a couple of crisp combinations. He forced Diaz into a corner, and the referee had seen enough as he proceeded to step in to put a halt to the contest.

Five months later Montana Love was attempting to keep the momentum going when he faced Gabriel Gollaz Valenzuela. He got off to a fast start as he knocked Valenzuela down in the 1st round, but Valenzuela returned the favor by knocking Love down in the 2nd round. It was a back and forth 12-round affair that all three judges tallied the identical score of 114-112 in favor of Love.

Now Montana Love (18-0-1, 9 KOs) is ready to return to the squared circle to entertain his hometown fans, and to make a statement.

Standing in his way is his opponent Stevie Spark. The Australian will be making his debut in the United States, and he wants to control the distance during the bout due to the fact that he thrives when he’s able to operate inside the pocket.

Montana Love is an extremely talented boxer who has high expectations. He can’t underestimate Spark, but if he’s victorious on Saturday night, Love could be a few fights away from earning the opportunity to fight for a world title.

A possible match in Love’s future could be a clash with a rising star who is also jostling for position in the 140-pound division. In the November 12 co-main, newly signed Matchroom acquisition Richardson Hitchins (14-0, 6 KOs) will take on Yomar Alamo (20-1-1, 12 KOs).

If both Montana Love and Richardson Hitchins can come out of Saturday night unscathed, then it is presumed that the two rising contenders will face each other in the immediate future.
