Team Aster have announced Bai “rOtK” Fan will be joining the roster as a replacement for LaNm.

Even though The International 11 was won by a Western European team, one of the Chinese powerhouses impressed us with its performance. No, we are not talking about PSG.LGD because the latter lost the majority of their matches. Instead, we’re referring to Team Aster, the best Chinese Dota 2 club right now.

Despite the fact that Aster failed to win the event, it secured a top 4 finish. Following this achievement, we thought that the team wouldn’t make any changes. However, this was not the case because Aster added Bai “rOtK” Fan to its roster. He will have to replace Zhang “LaNm” Zhicheng, Aster’s coach and stand-in player.

Roster changes

This is Aster’s second roster change after the end of The International 11. The first one took place a few days ago when the team announced the addition of Zhai “Xwy” Jingkai. He had to replace Zeng “Ori” Jiaoyang, who retired following Aster’s 4th place at TI 11. Xwy has some experience because he’s been a part of teams like EHOME, Keen Gaming, and Aster.Aries.

After the departure of the legendary mid-laner, LaNm, another top-tier Chinese Dota 2 player is no longer a part of the roster. Instead, the coaching position will be taken over by RotK, the 30-year-old veteran. He gained a lot of experience in this role several years ago when he was a part of Vici Gaming.

Following his stay with Vici, RotK joined Elephant’s Dota 2 team, which consisted of some of the best Chinese Dota 2 stars. However, this team did not live up to the expectations, which is why the legendary coach decided to take part in professional Dota 2. The good news is that this did not last long because he finally decided to make a comeback by joining Team Aster.

Aster’s roster following the changes:

  • Du “Monet” Peng
  • Zhai “Xwy” Jingkai
  • Lin “Xxs” Jing
  • Ye “BoBoKa” Zhibiao
  • Yu “皮球” Yajun
  • Bai “rOtK” Fan (the coach)

What to expect?

The post-TI 11 roster shuffle is on, so we can expect to see many more changes in the future. It will be interesting to see if Team Aster and the other teams outside of Western Europe can compete with the best from this region. Tundra Esports seems to be in a league of its own, but the Chinese might find a way to defeat them.
