Shakur Stevenson Complains About Pitbull Cruz & Zepeda Not Fighting Him

By Sam Volz: Shakur Stevenson was complaining on social media on Tuesday, upset about how he can get highly rated young superstars Isaac ‘Pitbull’ Cruz and William Zepeda to fight him.

Stevenson (19-0, 9 KOs), who just arrived in the 135-lb division, says DAZN & Golden Boy Promotions feel that it’s still too early for him and the unbeaten Zepeda (27-0, 23 KOs) to fight.

Not surprisingly, the 2016 Olympic silver medalist Stevenson disagrees with them because he feels this is the right time to fight Zepeda, even though the money he’d get wouldn’t be anywhere near what he could make if he waited a year or two.

“From what I’m hearing about the [William] Zepeda dude is Golden Boy & DAZN, and them feel like that it ain’t time for us to fight,” said Shakur Stevenson on Instagram live. “They feel that we shouldn’t be fighting right now and that the fight should be bigger later on.

“I disagree with that. We’re fighters, and we’re all in the position to fight. We can all make the biggest money fighting each other. William Zepeda? How much bigger is he going to get? I don’t know how much bigger he’s going to get. Someone may beat him before he gets a chance to fight me.

“If we’re being realistic, that’s how boxing go. So why not let me fight him and beat him?

“De La Hoya and Golden Boy, y’all posting on Instagram, saying ‘Zepeda is with all the smoke.’ But then you’re saying behind closed doors, ‘He’s not ready yet; it’s not time yet.’ How is it not time? I don’t get that.

“That’s what I don’t get. How is it not the time for us to fight. Who is he? All of us can really fight. Sugar Ray Leonard was 25 fighting each other.

“Pitbull wrote me on Instagram, ‘Let’s make the fight happen.’ So if I’m willing to make these fights happen and these dudes are not, y’all right to call them ducks. You’re right to say they’re running. You’re right to get on them.

“I’m not ducking no smoke. I’m not saying no to no fights. Pay me rightfully so what I’m supposed to be paid, and I’m getting in the ring to fight.

“The little puppy ‘Pitbull,’ whatever you want to call. He’s scared. He don’t want no confrontation. The WBC trying to force some of them to fight. I’m standing right there waiting for someone to say yes,” said Sh
