As fans, we put unfair expectations on NBA players.
It’s almost impossible to avoid. If a player is selected in the lottery, we pencil them in for stardom. If they don’t meet those expectations, we fault them.
Realistically, it’s actually the team’s fault for drafting them in the position that they did.
For example, take Isaac Okoro. As the fifth pick in the 2020 NBA draft, it would be fair to say that he absolutely hasn’t lived up to expectations thus far.
That holds especially true in 2022-23. Okoro’s minutes have hit a new low. With the Cavaliers contending, that seems unlikely to change.
