The Miami Heat are actively searching out ways to upgrade their roster and have been linked to some NBA All-Star names. Pat Riley has a penchant for swinging a big trade if he believes it will get the team closer to winning a championship and the rumors have been rampant this offseason.

Miami has been linked to both Kevin Durant of the Brooklyn Nets and Donovan Mitchell of the Utah Jazz. Given their lack of draft capital, it is hard to envision them being able to pull off a trade for either player.

Especially when you consider the player package that they will be offering, as Tyler Herro, Duncan Robinson and Kyle Lowry are the three players that have been mentioned as potential trade bait. You need extra draft capital to make up for that and the Heat just don’t have it.

Alas, they cannot be ruled out until those players end up with another team or are taken off the trade block altogether. The Heat are working feverishly to find more teams to get involved in the deal to help fulfill the draft pick demands of the team.

If those plans are not successful, the Heat always have contingencies in place. Could one of those backup plans this offseason include Eric Gordon of the Houston Rockets? He is the last veteran standing in Houston as the team traded Christian Wood earlier in the offseason and agreed to a buyout with John Wall.

Gordon is someone that the Rockets like, but passing up on the chance to cash in on his value may be too much to turn down. What could it take to land Gordon? Let’s take a look at this hypothetical trade that lands him in South Beach.
