Winner of men’s singles class 6 on the second day of play at the Copa Tango 2022 in Buenos Aires, Paul Karabardak added to his medal haul as proceedings concluded on Sunday 10th July.

The Welshman partnered Scotland’s Martin Perry to bronze in men’s doubles class 14.

On duty in the colours of Great Britain, the pair finished unbeaten in first position in their initial phase group.

Second position was reserved by Argentina’s Aleksy Kaniuka and Emanuel Martinez, Brazil’s Felipe Oliveira and Gilberto Onofre finished in third spot with Cristian Cantero and Rodrigo Demoor fourth.

A penultimate round place secured; the British duo was beaten by Chile’s Claudio Bahamondes and Ignacio Torres.

“The doubles went really well up until the semi-final. It’s been a while since Paul and I have played together and we enjoyed ourselves. Obviously we’re disappointed not to have gone further than the semi-final but credit to Chile they played really well and really clever.” Martin Perry

Meanwhile, for colleague, England’s Simon Heaps, it was one step short of a medal.

Partnering Frenchman Yorick Adjal, the pair experienced a quarter-final defeat at the hands of Brazil’s Lucas Arabian and Jean Carlo Padilho (9,-7,9,4).
